Tote Class Pictures and Birthday Specials

28 Jan

dscf0965Hi Everyone,

We had the first class at Sawmillers last night and above you can see the result, didn’t Gladys, Susan and Dorothy do a great job, they completed these bags in one lesson and left here with them in use!

So if you too would like to make one of these Vera Bradley look a likes the next class is being held on Wednesday 4th March at 6.30pm, they are an ideal gift for mothers, sisters, friends etc. and there is a choice of 5 colourways to select from.

Don’t forget the countdown is on to the Outdoor Quilt Festival on 8th February, not only can you wander through the grounds and look at the quilts but there are Birthday Specials being held here at Sawmillers, with some great reductions available, as well as our lovely fabric ranges, kits, including a BOM kit already cut and ready to piece, Sawmillers Strips,Charm Squares etc. I shall have Cheryl and Julie with me, and they will be able to assist you.

At this stage I am unsure if Barney Official Greeter and No2 Assistant will be with me that day, I might give him the day off in lieu!

Just phone or email us for more details if you need them and if you have quilts for the festival, go to the Stonestead blog for the Registration Form and details of the time extension, (there must be some sore fingers around at the moment!)

Until the next time, Happy Quilting

Hi Everyone,

Just to say I have posted pictures of some of the classes we shall be holding at Sawmillers over the next month or so, Dianne Barnden is taking the Charm Bag Class, isn’t it super, she says it’s great fun to make too.

The Pre Quilted Tote is another class being held too, very easy, and a Vera Bradley lookalike, we shall be holding this class again probably in March, for those who have been unable to get a place in the most recent class, all you need to bring to the class is your sewing machine and usual sewing kit, everything else is provided.

dscf0925_2-12This Baltimore Quilt is beautiful, you will learn to make this at monthly classes, the needs for this are relatively minimal once you have the base fabric. The display quilt will be in Sawmillers after the Stonestead Quilt Festival.

The details of the other classes are all available on the right of this posting, don’t forget if you want any more information just phone or email and we can help you. Don’t forget to bring your quilts in for the festival and remember this is a fun day.

Until next time, Happy Quilting

21 Jan

dscf0871

Hi Everyone,

Well, the days are passing quickly and we have just over 2 weeks before the Stonestead Outdoor Quilt Festival, it is beginning to get very exciting here as we all prepare for the big event, we are having merchants tables, stitching groups, childrens outside entertainement, Devonshire Teas and most importantly QUILTS.

Don’t forget to register your interest, the registration form can be downloaded from http://stonestead.wordpress.com or come into Sawmillers as we have them printed off already to fill in. There is additional information on the site too, so go through and check it out.

We have also been able to arrange for members of Capital Quilters who have their meeting next Saturday 31st January at Waterloo School and would like to submit quilts for the Stonestead Quilt Festival, to take them along to the meeting with the registration form/s and fee to Julie Manu, who has kindly offered to take them to Stonestead, this may assist those members who are unable to do it themselves. Thank You Julie

Until next time, Happy Quilting

Customers Work

Hi Everyone,

Isn’t the weather glorious, as I sit and write this I can see through the open french doors to the tea house where the patrons are all sitting outside eating their Devonshire Teas under the shade of the sun umbrellas, it is such a lovely sight. Don’t forget we are both open on Anniversary Day, so if you want a trip out come and see us.

Now whilst I have ‘oodles’ of pictures and topics to post here I thought it would be nice just to see some of  the work that our customers have accomplished and brought in to show us. The  pictures above are The Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt  made by Janet from Wellington, she made this for her grandchild, also pictured an embroidered cushion cover, framed by some of the Heart of Garden range of fabric, this was made by Cheryl.

I am so sorry I am unable to find the note I wrote to myself with the name of the person who made the quilt pictured above, I have a feeling it was a member of The Capital Quilters, and I am pretty sure the machine quilting was courtesy of Sue Burnett, stunning work.

Both these quilts were made by Christine, the Black and White quilt was a gift for a friend and the Kimono quilt was all oriental fabrics, very effective.

dscf0365This quilt was made by Julie of Capital Quilters, the colour combination is lovely, the greens are so soft.

Anyway, I shall finish this for today, don’t forget to download your registration forms from http://stonestead.wordpress.com  for the Outdoor Quilt Festival.

Until next time, Happy Quilting.

Happy Sawmillers New Year

5 Jan

dscf0296Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year to you all, we, at Sawmillers hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and for those that have had summer holidays we hope you have returned refreshed and full of great hopes and expectations for 2009.

We are now back to normal opening hours, which means that Yvonne along with Barney and Archie will be at the quiltery on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10.00am to 4.30pm each day.

We have been very busy planning the new class timetables and we shall be publishing these very shortly, not only will we be adding another Beginners evening class but also having additional classes on different days too, along with new tutors, we shall also be continuing the very popular free In Store demonstrations each month, where you can come along and learn a new technique each month, these proved very popular last year.

Don’t forget the Stonestead Outdoor Quilt Festival, you can go to the Stonestead blog for all the details or pick them up from the quiltery.

So, until the next posting, Happy Quilting
