Hi Everyone

Well, quilt market is over for another year and Kevin & I are exhausted, but very satisfied with what we have accomplished, Saturday is spent looking around & deciding which booths to go back to & then Sunday is spent returning to the booths that have caught our eye & Monday is the day for last minute ordering & ofcourse the exhibition.

We have ordered fabric as well as Block of the Month programmes & we are also bringing goodies home with us

So now is the time to register for the Post Houston Quilt Night, November 29th 7.30pm in the tea house, there will be a light supper no doubt some of Kevin’s famous scones & jam, door prizes, raffles, demonstrations on new product we shall be bringing back with us as well as a short presentation of what we saw.

You can email through the site, direct to the shop or phone & leave a message, we want it to be a fun evening, & it won’t be late either

Until next time

Last Few Days in Colorado

22 Oct

Hi everyone,

The time has passed so quickly since we arrived here in Denver, & my daughter Samantha & son in law Lance have taken us to some great places

Above is a picture of the famous Blue Bear sculpted by Lawrence Argent from Australia who has lived for many years in Denver, the bear is peering through the windows of Denver Convention Centre, it is a wonderful sight to see

This picture is taken of one of the many sandstone monoliths at the Garden of the Gods, we had a lovely visit here, a very popular attraction near Colorado Springs, the day we were here the rock climbers were also here.

This is a picture of the natural amphitheatre at Red Rocks, famous for open air performances by such groups as The Beatles, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Joan Baez etc.

So now it is time to move onto the business end of this trip as we fly to Houston tomorrow & Quilt Market, we have spent the day visiting quilt shops in Denver & what a variety, anyway my next posting will be from Houston

Happy Quilting

USA at last

17 Oct

Hi Everyone,

To those who don’t know this is the 6 mile stop on Pikes Peak in Colorado, my daughter Samantha, son in law Lance, Kevin & I went up to this height on the Cog Railway, what a view, we couldn’t go any further as the snow ploughs hadn’t been through,

We went to Vail the famous ski resort a few days before, reminded me so much of the alpine villages in Europe

We all seem to be recovering from the flu, which was disappointing, but now we look forward to the final few days here in Denver before we go to Houston Quilt Market

Until next time, happy quilting

Houston Fall Quilt Market

3 Oct

So it is all go here at Sawmillers, the Official Greeters have their bags packed for their holiday with at Steve at Dogs R Us, unlike their human owners who haven’t even started!!

So here is the deal, Kevin and I leave on Wednesday 8th October to attend the Houston Quilt Market, we are having a short sojourn in Denver so that I can visit my daughter and son in law and then it’s a week of workshops, seminars and lectures as well as trying to cover the vast market floor to see what is new on the quilting scene at the International Houston Wholesale Quilt Market

We have appointments to see our US suppliers as well as meeting with Kaari Meng of French General and Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill to name a few, it is always an exciting time for us as it means we can see what the trends are and take in the exhibitions too.

Sawmillers will still be open but on limited hours, so these will be Saturday and Sundays as usual, closed Thursday and Fridays, the Tea House will be closed from 8th October to 4th November re-opening on 6th November as will Sawmillers.

Sue Bracken will be here and is more than happy to help and you can still drop your quilt tops in for the long arm quilter

I shall be checking emails each day so if you have any queries just email and I can contact you

The really exciting news is that we shall be holding a Post Houston Quilt Market Evening at the end of November, this will be in the form of a presentation of images taken at Quilt Market as well as information gathered and hopefully some goodies we have picked up there too.
Just register your interest with Sue or email me and I shall send out the details once a date has been confirmed, so until we return
Happy Quilting
