A Quick Update

26 Feb

Hi Everyone,

Just a note to let you know what is happening up here at Sawmillers, everyone has recovered from the Stonestead Outdoor Quilt Festival, we had a great day and it was a huge success, bigger and better than last year, and I am sure you will have been through to the Stonestead site to see the pictures of the quilts, I shall be adding more today so look out for yours.

As you can see Barney Official Greeter and 2nd Assistant is good, he has been a little tired in this heat, but he has a Papillon cousin Treacle arriving to stay tonight for the weekend with his owner, our daughter Claire, and her daughter Ellie and friend Summer, the girls are going to do the Vertical Bungy in Courtney Place, whilst Claire and I will be attending the Capital Quilters meeting tomorrow.

We have all the X Blocks and Patterns in along with Acrylic Templates in Dresden Plate, Apple Pie, Charm Baskets and Sunflower to name a few, these are now on the new hang sell unit Kevin has made.

The William Morris fabric continues to be popular, we still have a little left and ofcourse we have the beautiful ‘Roses’ range by Jackie Robinson for Maywood, I am in the process of finishing a shop sample to showcase the fabric.

Don’t forget to check out the new pattern by Sharon Perry, this uses the lovely 30’s fabrics and is made entirely with the Sawmillers Strips that we have cut just for this, the only other fabric you need is for the backing and binding, so makes it a very economical quilt and what is even better you hardly have any cutting to do.

Call and see us when you are in Upper Hutt, don’t forget we are open Saturdays and Sundays and will do our best to help you with your projects, we can help you select your fabric and give any other assistance we can. The next posting will be about the Class Preview Evening we had last weekend.

Until next time,

Happy Quilting

Class Preview Evening

14 Feb

Hi Everyone,

A rather hasty posting today just to report the Preview Evening was great, we had lots of lovely ladies here and had Spot Prizes too. It was lovely to have our forthcoming tutors here with their class samples, they all commented on what a good evening it was, it meant that prospective pupils could speak with the class tutor and find out about the class and what it covered. We have moist of the class samples here at Sawmillers so if you wold like to see them call in.

So until next time

Happy Quilting

Hi Everyone,

Now the festival is over we can concentrate on this years classes, to this end we are having a Class Preview Evening on Saturday 13th February ( this Saturday ) at 7.00pm at the Stonestead Tea House, come along and meet the tutors and see their class samples, don’t forget you will get a discount voucher for class fabric if you pay your non refundable deposit.

This is just a sample of the techniques and quilts you will learn at Sawmillers

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday

Until next time, Happy Quilting

Festival Specials and Class Preview Evening

5 Feb

Hi Everyone,

Unlike Punxsutawney Phil ( the Groundhog)of Pennsylvania USA who has predicted another six weeks of winter over there, we here at Sawmillers are hoping we shall have at least another six weeks of summer starting this week so that we can all enjoy the Stonestead Quilt Festival this Sunday 7th February.

Whilst we don’t have a Phil we do have a Barney, who as you can see by the above image is ready and waiting for you to call in at Sawmillers to visit, he will be wearing a new bandana which will co ordinate with the aprons worn by the volunteers made of fabric donated by Sawmillers.

This is the range of William Morris fabric we have been able to get for Sunday, this will be reduced for that day only, so come in and have a look and also check out the William Morris Blenders too.

Another addition to Sawmillers is this new pattern by Sharon Perry, this is made of Sawmillers Strips in 30’s Vintage, the patterns are available as are the strips too. Don’t forget we shall also have kits for purchase too along with a range of Carol Wilson stationary and newly arrived from USA the new Clover Butterfly and Shamrock Yo Yo makers.

For those who are interested in participating in the classes we are holding during 2010, we shall be having a Class Preview Evening on Saturday 13th February at 7.00pm in Stonestead Tea House, where all the tutors will have their class samples for you to see and be able to answer your questions, there will also be incentives available for those registering on the night, for more details phone 04 526 2517.

So until next time, and if you are visiting on Sunday call in and say hello

Happy Quilting
