The Quilted Chicken, Allentown

DSCF0230Hi Everyone,

We have just returned from our excursion to The Quilted Chicken at Allentown, which is about an hour and a half from where we are staying with Samantha in Delaware, we travelled through the Poconos Mountains, the scenery here belies the name as although it is quite hilly it is also quite wooded, this is a  pretty at this time of the year with the trees tuning green to red to gold. We were made very welcome by Sharon who is the owner of the shop, as I said in my previous posting I became acquainted with her via the online network we belong to, unfortunately Sharon isn’t going to Quilt Market next week, but we were able to compare ideas and notes on quilt shops.

Sharon very kindly allowed me to take pictures of her shop samples and you can see they are lovely and are great examples of the fabrics she stocks.

Sharons son, Chris has also begun to piece and quilt, he attended the Pittsburgh Quilt Market with her and she said that has proved really beneficial, especially as he has begun teaching class now too.

We hope you enjoy seeing these pictures, it is hoped that Kevin and I will make our way to Oley, PA to visit The Ladyfingers Sewing Studio, this is owned by Gail Kessler who is chief designer for Andover Fabrics, I visited her a few years ago and it is where I purchased the fabric to make the Marching Band Quilt, that is often on display outside Sawmillers, so all being well there will be more pictures and another posting on my return.

Until next time

Happy Quilting
