Hi Everyone,

It is Sunday here in America and a gloriously sunny day with just a zephyr of a breeze and a temperature of about 22c, so we went visiting, and where better than the Longwood Gardens here on the outskirts of Wilmington, DE. The house and gardens belonged to the Dupont family and over the years, the gardens have continued to give pleasure to thousands of visitors, below is a picture of the the massive cornucopia that has pumpkins, gourds and scallopine of all shapes and sizes spilling out of it.

The opening picture is of the conservatory at Longwood, this is vast building and I shall be adding more pictures in forthcoming postings of the plants and flowers that are inside this huge building.

This photo was taken by Samantha, my daughter and guru of all things advertising, as you can see Kevin and I are admiring some of the plantings, there were drifts of beautiful plants in monochromatic shades of pinks, yellows, whites and  purples.

This beautiful flower was the most delicious shades of purples and white, and has given me inspiration to design a quilt on our return using the lovely purples, mauves and whites we have at Sawmillers.

Tomorrow we are having an early start and travelling to Allentown.PA to visit a quilt shop and hopefully the owner too who belongs to the same retailers network that we do, so this will give us an opportunity to see more of this vast country.

So until next time,

Happy Quilting
