1st UFO Night, New Fabric and Dragonflies.

20 Mar

Hi Everyone,

We are so excited here at Sawmillers as we have just received some more of the very popular Dragonfly fabric, which ran out of the door the day after I posted that it was here, this really will be the last we get of this beautiful fabric, so don’t linger if you would like to get some, there will be Fat Quarters available, but we only have 4.00mtrs.

This is the new range of ‘Oriental Traditions’ by Robert Kaufman, we have this on display as you enter Sawmillers, there are 14 pictorial prints including Fans, Koi Carp, Geishas, and Japanese Dragons to name a few, we also have the Fusion blenders to go with them, all of these have a hint of gold to co-ordinate with the prints. One of Sawmillers customers has purchased this to make ‘Kevin’s Quilt’ in class and I know it will look stunning.

dscf1025This other new arrival is the beautiful  ‘William Morris Mix’ for English based company Fabric Freedom, this fabric is delicious, fabulous feel to it and the colours are lovely, you can call and see the little sundress which we made up in the fabric, it only takes 6 Fat Quarters and .25cms to make it and even though it is classed as a sundress it can be worn as a pinafore with a little top under for the cooler months, we have both colourways, blue and green. This would also make a fabulous quilt, come in and have a look.

dscf1020This quilt was made by Diane Marriott, using the ‘Heart of Garden’ Sawmillers Strips it was for her sons birthday, we were able to incorporate some of Diane’s collection of Canadian prints, which she purchased when she visited him whilst he was working in Canada as a firefighter, this was Diane’s first completed quilt, it was machine quilted by Sue Burnett and the final effect was lovely.Well Done, Diane.

Last but not least we had the 1st Sawmillers UFO Night last night, it was a great night, we had Fish n Chips first, then we moved upstairs at the tea house and stitched and laughed and stitched and laughed more, a variety of projects were worked on, cutting out, hand stitching, machining etc. Thank you ladies for a great night, if anyone is interested don’t forget to book your dinner if you want to eat, if not you can along afterwards and join in the fun.

Until next time, have a great weekend, and if you are able, call and see Barney No 2 Assistant and Official Greeter.

Happy Quilting.

…we did have a great night at UFO, lots of laughs and hilarity with a touch of stitching added to the mix. Must say we were outnumbered by the hexagons that were being hand quilted!!
Have a happy weekend 🙂 Hugs Jx
