Donated Quilt and a New Class

10 Mar

Hi Everyone,

My apologies for not updating the post before now, having said goodbye to my daughter Samantha and son in law Lance I had to get back to normal very quickly which meant sewing the binding on the quilt we are sending to the Bush Fire Relief Centre in Melbourne. We are very grateful to Sue Burnett of Sue Bs Quilting for donating her time and batting, she has done a wonderful job and I am sure whoever receives this quilt will be very grateful, we have been asked to put a note in with the donation for the recipient, ours will be from a ‘Quilt Angel’ and we hope that the bright cheery colours of the fabric will go some small way to ease the terrible burden that these families have to bear in the coming months.

The other project that has been completed is the long awaited ‘Kevin’s Quilt’ pictured below, this is a larger version of the quilt we have displayed outside Sawmillers, which so many visitors comment on, now the shop sample has been completed we are taking bookings for the class, ours has been made in ‘manly’ fabrics but we have class enroleees who are making it in Orientals and Pastels too, so if you would like details of this class just contact us at Sawmillers Tel: 04 526 2517 or email and we can help you.

For those that may be interested the original quilt was made for Kevin ( hence the name) to remind him of his first trip to Pennsilvania and the quilting area in Lancaster County, I bought the fabric there and made the quilt so he would always remember the visit.

dscf1012Well, I shall finish, don’t forget the Free In Store Demonstration on Sunday at 1.30pm at Sawmillers, this will be on Fused and Needleturn Applique, we also have many classes available to enrol for including beginners.

Have a great weekend & Happy Quilting

Yvonne – the Bush Fire Relief quilt is lovely. Look forward to catching up with you tomorrow – will pop up for the demo – and need some more green options from the Butterfly Garden quilt blocks…
